I began my roofing career in 1999 as a union hot tar roofer in Peoria, IL. “Growing up” union I was taught to take pride in my work and my profession. As a team, we worked hard every day and as a team we went home to our families, safe. In 2004 I went to the memorial service of Greg Goodrich, a friend of a close friend, who gave his life for another. I felt compelled to do my part in Operation Iraqi Freedom and I took a position with a contractor in Iraq.
In between two 1 year contracts, I moved to Florida with the dream of starting my own roofing company. I quickly learned there were differences between how we roofed in Illinois and how things were done in Florida. Since moving to Florida in 2004, I have worked with several of the largest commercial & residential roofing companies in the state, and even the country. With nearly 15 years of experience roofing in Florida combined with my union experience in the Midwest, I was once again compelled. I decided to take the contractor’s exam and once again begin pursuit of my dream to open my own roofing company. I couldn’t do this on my own however, I needed a partner that I could trust and who took as much pride in his work as I had. So I called my partner Raul Cabanillas. Together, we have built a company that stands on pride, quality, honesty, and integrity.
I started my roofing journey 18+ years ago, working in one of the largest roofing companies in the state of Florida. I started at the bottom, as a laborer, learning from the beginning until the end of the project. Soon my tenancy, hard work, and easy learning were observed by my superiors, so they offered me a position in the Service Department as a Repair Technician. Soon I became the main guy in the service department; I was awarded the employee of the month many times on the road.
After many years of successfully working at the Melbourne Branch – Brevard County, the owner of the company offered me a position in the Fort Lauderdale Branch – Broward and Miami Dade Counties as a Service Manager at the branch; a much bigger and more complicated area. Working away from my family for several years, forced me to move back to Melbourne and work in another one of the largest roofing companies for 6 years.
I always dreamt of opening my own roofing company where I would be able to use and apply all my experience for my customers; offering integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
At the beginning of this journey, I met a great guy, his name was Brian Dennis, and we spoke a long time ago about the possibility of opening our own business one day. Well, that same great guy called me about 2 years ago saying “I got the license … let’s do it!” And here we are … This was the best decision I ever made…
